Short answer: sold-out HYROX days do come back. People with flexible tickets cancel, returned spots are released back into the official shop in small batches, and they usually sell out again within the hour. Being told the moment it happens is what gets you in.

Why sold-out days reopen

Athletes who bought the FLEX add-on can cancel for a full refund up to 31 days before race day, and for 50% up to 7 days before. HYROX says returned tickets are not put back on sale immediately, so spots tend to reappear in bursts rather than one by one, often weeks before the race and again in the last few weeks.

What actually works

Watch the exact day and division you want. A sold-out Saturday can reopen while Sunday stays full. Mixed doubles and relays reopen at different times than singles.
Be flexible on day or division. Thursday and Friday heats often have spots when the weekend is gone. Check every race's live availability.
Join the race's notification list on the official event page. It announces new releases, but not every single returned spot.
Get an alert the moment it reopens. Most reopened days go within the hour, so checking a few times a day isn't enough. Race Radar checks every 5 minutes.
